Why Bagasse?

Bagasse, a by-product of sugarcane processing, is an excellent eco-friendly material that would otherwise go to waste. By repurposing this agricultural residue, we help reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Bagasse is highly biodegradable and compostable, breaking down naturally without leaving harmful residues. Its robust and heat-resistant properties make it an ideal alternative to traditional plastic or styrofoam, particularly for food packaging and disposable tableware. By using bagasse, Little Eco not only provides high-quality, sustainable products but also supports innovative waste reduction practices and a greener planet.

Why No Plastics?

Plastic pollution is a major global issue, with millions of tons of plastic waste ending up in landfills and oceans each year, harming wildlife and ecosystems. By steering clear of plastic products, we aim to reduce this detrimental impact and promote a healthier planet. Instead, we focus on sustainable, biodegradable alternatives like bamboo and bagasse, which decompose naturally and leave no harmful residues. Our dedication to a plastic-free product line not only helps reduce pollution but also supports a circular economy and encourages eco-friendly practices among consumers and businesses alike. Through our efforts, we hope to inspire a shift towards more responsible consumption and a greener future.

Why Bamboo?

We choose bamboo for our products due to its exceptional sustainability and environmental benefits. Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on Earth, capable of reaching full maturity in just a few years, which makes it a highly renewable resource. It requires minimal water and no pesticides or fertilizers, reducing its ecological footprint compared to traditional crops like cotton. Furthermore, bamboo's strength and durability as well as it's natural antibacterial properties make it an excellent choice for sanitary products and cutlery, ensuring safety and hygiene. By using bamboo, we offer our customers durable, biodegradable products that support a healthier planet and promote sustainable living practices.

UK Ban On Plastics

New legislation is being implemented in the UK to reduce plastic pollution. This includes bans on single-use plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds, with upcoming restrictions on plastic plates, cutlery, and polystrene containers. The Plastic Packaging Tax, introduced in April 2022, targets packaging with less than 30% recycled content, encouraging the use of sustainable materials. These measures are part of the UK's 25 Year Environment Plan and aim to eliminate avoidable plastic waste by 2042, promoting innovation in eco-friendly alternatives and supporting a transition to a circular economy. Businesses and consumers are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices to contribute to a cleaner, greener future.

Worldwide Ban On Plastics

Countries around the world are increasingly enacting bans on single-use plastics to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainability. The European Union has implemented comprehensive regulations, banning items such as plastic cutlery, plates, and balloon sticks, and aims to make all plastic packaging recyclable by 2030. Canada has announced a ban on harmful single-use plastics, including bags, straws, and cutlery, which took effect at the end of 2021. India has introduced a phased ban on single-use plastics, targeting items like bags, cups, and plates. Additionally, countries like Australia and Kenya have also enforced strict bans on plastic bags. These global initiatives signify a strong, collective effort to reduce plastic waste, protect marine life, and foster a more sustainable future.
